Bankia and SerranoPark, one of Madrid’s biggest car parks, have signed a collaboration agreement to create a charge card that will give users of the car park easier access.
The plastic card uses contactless technology, so that the driver is able to enter and leave parking by simply holding the card close to the reader, without having to let go of the card. Besides access, the new card can also be used as a payment card in retail establishments and to withdraw cash from ATMs.
These Bankia cards are also equipped with a magnetic stripe and electronic chip and so can be used in any commercial establishment that does not have point-of-sale terminals equipped with contactless technology.
Bankia recently announced plans to renew its more than 3.7 million debit cards in issue. All these existing cards will be replaced, at no additional cost to customers, by cards that use contactless technology.
