This summer, the state of New York will be replacing its state IDs with a new design that officials hope will curb forgeries.
As reported on New York Magazine’s website, the new IDs will be polycarbonate cards with black-and-white pictures. They’ll be engraved with personal data, and will contain an image of the user that will be visible from either side of the ID.
Making the IDs employes a laser-inscribing machine that officials say is too expensive for the average ID forger to obtain.
