3M Cogent has announced the release of its new BioTrust biometric logon software developed to replace traditional usernames and passwords with biometrics.
The new software is designed for use with Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 operating systems and utilizes facial and fingerprint recognition to replace traditional means of a variety of logins.
In addition to replacing login to the operating system itself, BioTrust is also capable of acting as a biometric single sign-on solution for any online account so long as it is being accessed via the Internet Explorer 7 or higher browser by utilizing a built-in password manager.
In addition to its varied uses 3M Cogent is also touting the solution as being available in more than 30 languages and containing a robust enough facial recognition engine that it can operate in a variety of low accuracy conditions such as low or side lighting.
