A welcome and a challenge to the new NACCU director
The new executive director for the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) will assume his position on the first of March. For the benefit of our growing base of international readers and our many corporate campus and K-12 subscribers, NACCU is the premier association for the advancement of campus card systems among U.S. and Canadian colleges and universities.. Following a several month vacancy and an extensive search, Lowell Adkins was hired earlier this month.
On behalf of all the CR80News team, I offer several things to Lowell: our congratulations, our assistance, and our challenge.
The first, I offer our congratulations. I have known Lowell for the better part of a decade and I am absolutely confident in his abilities to build this association. He is professional and capable as well as personable. He understands our industry from both the technological and the operational sides, and he understands the perspective of both the campus administrator and the campus card vendor. He brings to the job a very rare combination of skills and experience.
Next, I offer our assistance. Each month, five thousand individuals around the world read CR80News. Our reach can help extend NACCU to new markets and regions. We can help spread the word of the association’s mission in the U.S. to other parts of the globe and to markets outside of higher education. We are on pace to meet our goal of adding 2500 K-12 administrators, 1000 international institutions, and 1000 corporate campus professionals to our subscriber roles by mid-year. Let us help you grow.
Most importantly I offer a challenge. You are assuming what should be the most important position in this industry. You have the opportunity to elevate the campus card to its deserved position of importance and in doing so help all card office administrators advance their careers. You are in a position to help influence the product offerings at not one, but all vendors in the industry. I challenge you to more. Push the association’s educational mission throughout the year. Expand the value proposition for vendors to compel a wider spectrum of companies to participate.
As you know, you are preparing to lead an extremely important association-one with a great, though short, history. Card and identification technology is really still in its infancy, both on campus and in society. We are experiencing change more rapidly than ever before and the coming months and years will only increase this pace. I expect that one day we will look back on the coming years as the pivotal time in the association’s history. And I am confident that we will be glad that you were in the lead. Welcome aboard Lowell.
