ACI’S BASE 24 SOFTWARE TO PROCESS JCB’S SMART CARDS

ACI Worldwide says its Base 24 e-payment processing software will be able to acquire, route, generate and switch transactions for JCB International Co. Ltd’s J/Smart credit cards, officials of both companies announced Tuesday. The announcement is part of a move by JCB, Japan’s largest card issuer and the world’s fourth largest, to convert all its it magnetic-stripe cards to smart cards by 2007. JCB USA, a JCB International subsidiary, also is working with payment terminal makers and smart card manufacturers to ensure the J/Smart application is included in their products (CardLine, 10/28).
