Afghanistan and Pakistan agree on biometric border control

During a visit with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Afghan Interior Minister Zarar Ahmad Muqbal by A.Rehman Malik, advisor to the Pakistani prime minister on interior, an agreement was reached on deploying a biometric control system along the shared border, according to a People’s Daily Online article.
The system will be in place in order to control illegal border crossings in an effort to resolve some of the security concerns the two countries share. Both sides agreed to make this a joint effort by appointing key government personnel and technical teams to oversee the installation and implementation of the new control system.
