AIM Global’s green RFID outlook
Industry trade association AIM Global marked Earth Day with an examination of environmentally-friendly RFID applications, finding that the green sector is one of the most promising segments for the RFID market.
RFID is now being used in a wide array of civic environmental programs, including the monitoring of vehicle emissions, the collection of recyclable materials, the reuse of packaging resources and electronic parts and the disposal of electronic waste. In the private sector, RFID continues to help companies more efficiently track and manage inventories, thereby reducing unnecessary transportation requirements and fuel usage.
AIM Global’s overview offers a number of specific examples of these applications, from pre-Olympics vehicle emissions testing in Beijing to the tagging of recyclables bins in several U.S. towns in order to create a tracking system that reward households with exceptional recycling habits.
