Animetrics, a developer of face recognition-based biometric systems, has announced it has been awarded three new patents for technology and methods used in its systems.
The patents awarded: Facial Recognition System and Method, Generation of Image Database for Multifeatured Objects and Viewpoint-Invariant Image Matching and Generation of 3D Models from 2D Imagery, are already in use in some of Animetrics’ systems involved in surveillance, security and computer vision used in such scenarios as border control, in-field identification and military operations.
The patents themselves deal heavily with the creation of three-dimensional representations of faces resulting from photographs taken in any orientation or scale.
