Apigy, a California-based start up, is now offering a service that lets companies and homeowners install NFC-enabled access control systems, according to Todayonline.com.
Designed specifically for companies that use contract workers and people who rent out their homes, “Lockitron” lets users issue virtual keys to the guest’s cell phone, rather than make a physical copy of a key. The guest then uses the phone with the embedded password to unlock the door with a simply tap.
According to Todayonline, the service, which costs around $340 for equipment and installation, can provide either permanent or temporary access, depending on whichever the owner chooses.
The service also allows system owners to unlock doors remotely for guests via their mobile phone, no matter how far away.
