Swedish contactless smart card reader and terminal producer Arcontia Technology AB has released its CAS2340 dual interface smart card reader, designed for use with both contact and contactless applications.
The device is ISO/IEC 14443 A/B and ISO/IEC 7186 compliant. It fits on the back of Casio IT-800 handheld computers for accessibility to multi-applications with a single device. Its application possibilities include e-ticketing in public tranpsort, ID verification, NFC mobile payment applications and special event ticket validation.
Based on the 13.56 MHz contactless technology, the CAS2340 is compatible with PCs, SCs and the entire MIFARE product line and also supports Smart MX, Calypso and ISO/IEC 18092 (NFC). The reader includes two ISO/IEC 7816 ID-000 sized SAM slots for smart card security and one ISO/IEC 7816 ID-1 sized slot for contact smart cards.
Arcontia will have developer’s kits with the new reader available this month. The kits include the reader, MIFARE cards, documentation, tools and sample code in C++ and C#.
