Two Central Arkansas public libraries are currently in the process of converting to and installing an RFID-enabled check system, according to a local news report.
The Sue Cowen Williams Branch and Maumelle Branch, both located in Little Rock, will install the new system to make the checkout process simpler and faster, allowing staff to spend more time providing patrons with assistance.
Patrons will also be able to bypass long lines and wait times by visiting the new self-check stations. Other benefits include enhanced security of library materials and better inventory control.
Seven other branches have undergone the self-check conversion process, and the more branches are scheduled to go through the process throughout the rest of 2010.
