Bank Asya, Turkcell to deliver NFC payment solution for Turkish tolls
Turkish motorists will soon be able to pay for tolls via mobile phone thanks to Bank Asya and Turkcell, according to todayszaman.com.
The partners plan to publicly launch the system by February 2011. Anyone interested in participating can go to Turkcell Communication Centers to obtain a specially designed SIM card that lets motorists pay for tolls by simply passing their mobile phone over a reader. Customers can either preload the SIM with credit or register their cedit card information with AsyaCard DIT.
The new solution leverages Turkey’s exisiting toll solution, the KGS Card Pass system, as well as NFC-technology – however, customers are not required to have an NFC-enabled phone to use the system, says todayszaman.com
According to Bank Asya, the company already has a significant customer base in the market with 800,000 on-account and 400,000 KGS card holders.
