The Bewator Group, one of Europe’s major suppliers of access and video control equipment, has signed an agreement providing Indala Corporation, an ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology Group (ITG) company, with exclusive worldwide distribution rights to sell its range of Cotag hands-free access technology to the OEM market. The agreement commenced on January 1st, 2004.
“This agreement offers us an excellent opportunity to reach global markets with our Cotag reading technology and will allow new customers to experience the benefits of hands-free products”, said Bo Kastensson, CEO of Bewator. “Bewator will continue to expand worldwide distribution of our market leading access control systems where our Cotag card and reader technology continues to be a core offering”.
Indala will stock, program, and ship products from its corporate headquarters in San Jose, CA. Customer service and technical support will be provided for these products from San Jose. “The agreement between Indala and the Bewator Group is great for everyone,” said Marc Freundlich, president of Indala. “Existing Bewator customers benefit from Indala’s extensive supply and support capabilities worldwide while new customers get a fresh look at the latest Cotag hands-free technology.”
Cotag technology includes a range of proximity and hands-free cards, tags and readers, and is among the most advanced in the world. It is based around active technology that can be automatically read at access control points. Elegantly designed and simple to install, Cotag technology products are designed to work with a wide range of security equipment such as door openers and access control systems. Industry standard outputs allow Cotag cards and readers to be used with any access control system as well as those supplied by Bewator.
Bewator will continue its focus on system sales and development, where cards and readers will continue to be integral system components and where the Cotag hands-free technology remains core. Bewator will continue to invest in these products to the mutual benefit of both Bewator and OEM customers. This agreement will not affect Bewator´s reader sales to existing customers and distributors of Entro, Granta, and 2010.
The products covered by the agreement are:
Cards: 928 Active Cards, 911 Active Keyring, and 970 Vehicle Tag
Readers: HF500, PR500, HD500-2, SP500, PM500, 5270 & 5516 Loop Reader
