A report from industry research firm RNCOS called Global Biometric Forecast to 2012 suggests industry growth more than 22% annually from 2010 through 2012 in the Middle East and Northern Africa region. The projected industry growth in the MENA region tops the projected global industry growth which is expected to be 18% during the same span of time.
RNCOS believes that much of the higher growth rate can be attributed to the high levels of willingness to accept biometric technologies in the Gulf region specifically. The report details a number of other issues and projections in the biometrics industry including other regional projected growth rates and factors that could restrain future growth.
