The New Delhi government is investing in biometric technology at its airport. The idea is to make travelers more comfortable taking taxi’s to and from the airport.
In the past travelers have been mugged using taxis and the government hopes the new biometric ID system can put a stop to this. The prepaid biometric taxi service would post all of the drivers’ and cab information on the back of the taxi driver’s seat so the passenger can report anything illegal to authorities.
Drivers who have complied with the new system underwent a full background check before receiving approval to operate at the airport, reports the Hindustan Times.
The new service will keep blacklisted cab drivers out of the airport.
