Barclaycard has announced that pub chain Slug and Lettuce has begun accepting contactless payments at its 80 locations across Great Britain.
According to Barclaycard, the roll out comes after a “hugely successful” trial in four Slug and Lettuce London pubs, which saw Barclaycard terminals processing 1,500 contactless transactions in one month alone.
The new technology will allow customers to tap and pay for bar tabs of £15 and under. During its trial, Barclaycard found that the average tab at Slug and Lettuce is £8.89, making contactless a good fit for the pub chain.
According to Barclaycard, The Stonegate Pub Company Ltd, operators of Slug and Lettuce, plan to roll out contactless payments in their other pubs and restaurants, including 66 Yates outlets, as well as Litten Tree and Hogs Head pubs.
