To help UK businesses fight fraud and identity theft in high value or high risk transactions, BT has launched a new authentication service.
Called BT Managed Authentication, this service will supplement BT’s Managed Security Solutions product line. The service is designed for companies that have a large number of customers who log in to specific company applications through the Internet.
Customers receive an additional piece of software that creates a one-time password that they use in addition to the username and password login process. These supplementary passwords expire after use and are regenerated every few minutes.
Jeffery Schmidt, executive global head of business continuity, security and governance at BT Global Services, says BT developed this product in response to a need for stronger methods of authentication.
