Canadian Pork Council distributes ear tags for swine

As part of a nationwide swine traceability system, the Canadian Pork Council has begun to distribute RFID enabled ear tags to Canada’s swine breeding herds. The Council hopes the traceability system will improve disease detection and help prevent outbreaks.
The RFID tags will include a unique traceability number as well as room for a barn management number for the farmer’s personal use. The new tags are currently available for order to swine producers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
