CARTES & IDentification will be held from November 17 to 19 in Paris-Nord Villepinte. This year the show’s focus will be on authentication technology and the country in the spotlight will be Russia.
The use of plastic cards in Russia has become widespread over recent years and the deployment of equipment at point of sale is accelerating. This development of cards entails an increased risk of card piracy, trafficking and phishing, forcing banks and public-sector organizations to look for new protection solutions.
The conference also will focus on authentication technology. Exhibitors will present their solutions for meeting security needs, particularly in the field of the trusted Internet. The theme of the fight against cybercrime will also be addressed.
Another subject that will be explored at the trade show will be the development of contactless payment systems in France. The keen interest generated by near field communication over recent years has concentrated on the possibility of transferring credit and debit cards to mobile phones in order to make contactless payments.
However, the complexity of setting up standardized and secure NFC systems, as well as the need for the various players – operators, card issuers and associations – to agree on a suitable service model, has delayed the wide-scale launch of contactless payment systems in France.
