Music downloads and other digital services have come to campuses utilizing CBORD’s Odyssey Privilege Control System. The company has signed an agreement with digital media provider Cdigix that includes monthly subscriptions, individual song downloads, and hit movies, all which can be paid for with the students’ campus cards.
Ithaca, New York – The CBORD Group, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of campus card, housing, and foodservice management systems for the College & University market today announced that it has signed an agreement with Cdigix, the leading provider of legal digital media services to the college marketplace. The deal allows students to pay for Cdigix’s various services, including monthly subscriptions and individual song downloads, with their CBORD campus card account.
CBORD’s Odyssey Privilege Control System (PCS) campus card system is a proprietary campus card system that integrates all of a campus’ activities and revenue generating transactions onto one card over a school’s network. Currently installed at hundreds of colleges and universities across the country, Odyssey PCS communicates campus-wide, allowing the students to use the card in the cafeteria, the student union, the library, residence halls, the bookstore and several other campus locations. Odyssey PCS also allows students and faculty to access their funds at participating off-campus vendors.
By seamlessly adding Cdigix into its system, CBORD further expands its high-quality solutions for campus life. Cdigix offers colleges and universities a flexible distribution platform for a variety of legal entertainment and educational content commonly downloaded by college students, such as digital music, “on-demand” hit movies and television programs. CBORD launched the Cdigix integration at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX last month and will continue to roll out the service to other schools as the fall semester begins.
Bruce Lane, Executive Vice President of CBORD, said, “We are happy to be partnering with Cdigix, whose service is available to hundreds of thousands of college students throughout the country. Through this relationship, we are able to give students a way to enjoy digital media legally and give schools a way to protect themselves against illegal activity on their campus networks.”
Mike Queen, vice president of sales and marketing at Cdigix, added: “Cdigix has been built on the premise that students need to be given choices. Our digital music library offers the largest selection of songs available, and our broadband video-on-demand service features a range of programming from the world’s premier media companies. We are happy to be working with CBORD and leveraging its card system, allowing us to offer students a convenient new payment option.”
