Chiltern Railways in the UK announced a new mobile application to aid in the process of ticketing. This new application, which is available for smart phones, enables people to get rid of paper tickets and simply show up to catch the train carrying their phones.
Chiltern reports the new application is compatible with iOS devices, BlackBerry, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung Java-based handsets with color screens, according to T3.com
An Android version is also in the works.
The application enables you to buy tickets remotely, and then present a QR code on your screen which can be scanned and accepted in lieu of a paper ticket.
