China’s mobile subscriber base exceeded 400 million in 2006 and is expected to reach 600 million by the end of 2007. China’s massive market presents tremendous opportunities for operators, device manufacturers and content providers. According to the article at BusinessWeek.com, SMS text messaging continues to dominate the market. But the future looks better with new mobile applications such as 2D barcodes and NFC most likely emerging from China’s much more advanced mobile phone market.
