UK-based cards and gifts retailer Clinton Cards is introducing contactless payment technology in its stores this month, according to retailgazette.co.uk.
Clinton Cards is working with RBS WorldPay for the roll out, which will involve 50 stores around London and Liverpool, with potential for wider adoption in the future.
The new system will allow customers to make tap and go style payments for purchases under £15, which is well within the range of the majority of purchases at Clinton Cards, says retailgazette.co.uk.
The company hopes the roll out will help speed up queues at peak shopping hours and help customers who feel uncomfortable paying by chip and pin for small amounts when there are people waiting behind them at the checkout.
