Cogent Systems, a developer of biometric solutions, has announced that it’s been awarded a contract by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) for replacement of the office’s Automated Finger Imaging System (AFIS) with a new one. The office uses their AFIS to biometrically authenticate the identities of their benefit recipients to ensure correct benefits are being disbursed and fraud is not taking place.
Under the contract, Cogent will be working on the more than 200 enrollment stations in the state as well as 1.9 million records that will need to be converted to be compatible with Cogent’s new system.
Further, Cogent will be installing both the hardware and software for the front-end enrollment as well as the Data Center serving as the system’s back-end. The contract between Cogent and the OTDA spans 5.5 years with an option for an additional two years.
