Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) says it will introduce contactless CEPAS-compliant Autopass cards within the next one to two years, according to channelnewsasia.com.
The new contactless passes are intended for motorists of foreign-registered vehicles to pay for their vehicle entry permit and toll charges at checkpoints.
According to channelnewsaisa.com, the new card may support other applications, such as public transport and contactless purchases, but LTA says it has not yet determined which features will be added to the card, if any at all.
The LTA says that current contact Autopass cards, of which there are about 40,000 in use, will still be accepted alongside the new contactless ones.
