Cross Match Receives Order to Deploy Biometric Fingerprint Scanners to 10 Major Airports for US-VISIT Program
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Cross Match Technologies Inc., a global provider of biometric identity solutions, will deliver its Guardian ten-print fingerprint systems to 10 metropolitan airports, as part of enhancements to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) United States Visitors Immigrant Status and Indicator Technology (US-VISIT) program.
The L SCAN® Guardian™ was selected by DHS for an initial field deployment of ten-print livescan systems to upgrade US-VISIT’s current two-finger livescan technology. The Guardian systems will be deployed through its partner, CounterTrade Products, Inc. to airports in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Miami, New York, Orlando, San Francisco and Washington/Dulles.
The US-VISIT program is part of a continuum of DHS security measures that begin overseas and continue through a visitor’s arrival in and departure from the United States. It incorporates eligibility determinations made by both DHS and the Department of State (DOS) to help verify travelers’ identities.
“We are proud to deliver to DHS the most reliable and accurate ten-print livescan technology that will assist in improving US-VISIT security measures at these airports. Our state-of-the-art Guardian systems will facilitate more effective border management and thereby help strengthen our nation’s security,” said James W. Ziglar, president and CEO of Cross Match.
Lightweight, compact and durable, the Guardian livescan device meets all specifications issued by a U.S. government joint agency user group, including DHS and DOS. The system is ideal for high-volume biometric applications such as border control and visa issuance, and other demanding operational environments where a high-quality biometric device is required to establish and verify identity. Cross Match has sold thousands of Guardian systems to numerous agencies in the U.S. and abroad since first introduced a little more than a year ago.
