Cross Match Technologies has released its PIV One, which will allow federal agencies to create biometric personal identity records of employees and contractors. The records can then be converted into an Electronic Fingerprint Transmission Specification and submitted to the FBI for background checks.
New Biometric Identity Solution Provides Secure, Reliable Form of Identification for Federal Agencies
Palm Beach Gardens–Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a leading global provider of high-quality interoperable biometric identity applications and solutions, announced the release of PIV One, a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) solution to help federal agencies meet the requirements of President Bush’s Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12). This directive outlines a new federal standard for a secure and reliable form of identification issued by all federal agencies to their employees and contractors. With PIV One, federal government agencies will be able to create verified biometric personal identity records of employees and contractors in compliance with the federal standard.
The records can then be formatted into an Electronic Fingerprint Transmission Specification (EFTS) file and submitted to the FBI’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) for background checks. In addition, the records will contain the biometric and demographic information necessary to construct standards-based, compliant smart card credentials for the individuals.
“Our PIV One workstation offers a complete solution to help government agencies improve the identification and authentication of federal employees and contractors for access to federal facilities and information systems,” said James W. Ziglar, president and chief executive officer of Cross Match Technologies. “By enrolling, credentialing, and verifying individuals’ biometric identity information, PIV One will help ensure government buildings and information systems are secure. We are pleased we could offer a comprehensive solution to address the Homeland Security Presidential Directive, and look forward to expanding our relationships with federal government agencies to help further ensure the safety of our nation,” Ziglar continued.
PIV One aggregates all of the necessary demographic, biometric and documentary information about an individual and stores it in a centralized database for federal employee vetting and biometric credentialing. By leveraging this solution, organizations are able to ensure their employees and contractors are qualified to have access to federal facilities and information systems.
“With more than a thousand U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special-Agent-in-Charge investigations projected each year for teaching facilities, it is important that we are compliant with national policies and procedures,” said General Kearney, Jr., Facility ISO of The Indianapolis Medical Center. “Cross Match’s PIV One solution has helped us achieve this goal by bringing our IDs into conformance with the proposed standard for government-wide PIV cards. This, in turn, has helped us ensure that our buildings and information systems are secure,” General Kearney, Jr., continued.
