DeviceFidelity receives European patent for NFC tech

DeviceFidelity has been granted a patent from the European Patent Office for its NFC payments technology.
Patent number 2196010 describes the technology behind DeviceFidelity’s iCaisse NFC external accessory for the iPhone, iPad or similar devices. The patent covers multiple configurations of the external NFC accessory, including an embedded or a removable Secure Element as well as the various shapes the accessory could take, such as a protective case, cover or dongle.
According to DeviceFidelity, the patented technology allows banks, mobile network operators and other mobile ecosystem players to offer their customers a number of mobile contactless applications, including mobile wallets, ticketing, transit, access control, tag reading applications and peer-to-peer transactions.
The DeviceFidelity iCaisse and In2Pay microSD solutions are available for purchase in the U.S. through the moneto mobile wallet program. The solutions are also being launched as part of a major MNO backed mobile wallet later this year, according to Device Fidelity.
