Secure ID supplier Digimarc has released a “see, feel and machine-validate” ID authentication system that allows issuers to personalize an ID in multiple ways. The system includes high resolution printing and laser engraving with a 3D tactile security feature that a card inspector can feel.
Beaverton, Ore– Digimarc Corporation announced Digimarc ExianEvident 3D, a secure credential breakthrough designed to protect citizen identity and deter terrorism while providing the highest value.
ExianEvident 3D delivers “see, feel and machine-validate” authentication by allowing issuers to personalize an ID to a card holder in multiple ways – with high resolution printing and laser engraving, with a unique 3D tactile security feature that a card inspector can feel, and with machine-readable digital watermarking. This allows law enforcement, retailers, banks and other users of secure credentials to readily and reliably authenticate genuine documents. With ExianEvident 3D, authentication is both more reliable, and significantly more cost-effective than alternatives such as smart cards.
“Deterring identity theft and fraud demands staying a step ahead of the criminals,” said Dr. Robert Jones, chief scientist, Digimarc. “The breakthrough architecture of ExianEvident 3D allows issuers to deliver multiple levels of personalization, arming the users of secure driver licenses and IDs – law enforcement, retail, banking – with the tools for positive authentication. ExianEvident 3D is another essential component in Digimarc’s portfolio of enrollment and secure credential solutions that deliver security and durability for citizens who use our ID credentials around the world.”
ExianEvident 3D supports a range of market leading security features including Digimarc IDMarcT digital watermarks. Incorporated today in more than 25 million driver licenses, digital watermarking provides powerful cross-jurisdictional machine authentication. Read at the point of document inspection with commonly available scanners, IDMarc links together personal data and security features to ensure credential integrity, defending against falsified IDs from photo swapping and data alteration.
The Advantage of ExianEvident 3D
ExianEvident 3D represents a breakthrough in card security and is ISO/IEC 7810 compliant. This revolutionary new card architecture:
–Helps protect citizen identity and deter terrorism through unique three-dimensional “see, feel and machine-validate” authentication capabilities;
–Supports multiple personalization techniques, including laser engraving, color imaging, and tactile personalization (which an inspector can feel);
–Costs substantially less than competing products such as solid polycarbonate cards;
–Can host a full range of overt, covert and forensic security features including Kinegramsr, laser perforation, Digimarc IDMarcT digital watermarking, and microprinting to maximize defense against counterfeiting and fraud;
–Uses no adhesive and is destroyed if intruded upon, rendering it useless to a would-be counterfeiter.
