Digital Identification Solutions has made a trio of announcement at the CeBIT exhibition in Hanover, Germany. The company announced a new card personalization suite, a credential scanning module and new holographic technology.
EDIsecure Card Personalization Suite contains a set of modules for many configurations of printer hardware and peripherals. Its architecture is based on the previous experiences and design-concepts of the EDIsecure XID Printer Drivers, but now has a newly developed middleware with a modular design. But the software is more than a conventional printer driver and offers a range of functional modules.
The EDIsecure Card Personalization Suite consists of an administration center module, the central point for the management of hardware peripherals, convenient status and error monitoring, the lower level printer drivers for various hardware types, as well as Advanced Intelligent Printer Management for high capacity production and the Advanced Chip Encoding Framework (Advanced CEF).
Different hardware modules, such as any of the EDIsecure XID 5xxie Printer Series and even the EDIsecure LCP 9000 Laser Color Personalization System, can be controlled through this art printer middleware.
Digital Identification Solutions also unveiled a new credential scanning module for government and card-service bureau applications. The EDIsecure CSM 2 enables the scanning of ID cards with optional OCR recognition as well as the reading of bar codes on pre-printed cards.
An individual positioned and preprinted bar code, text or number on an ID card can be scanned and assigned to a database record prior to the card personalization. It is ideal for government applications such as National IDs, driver licenses and secure corporate applications.
The EDIsecure CSM 2 enables control of card stock and the assignment of the issued credential to the cardholder. The unit can scan the full size of the card either on the front-side or the backside. Contactless encoder modules (e.g.: Mifare, DESFire, Legic, HID, etc.) also can be optionally included.
The new scanning module is designed for the use with the EDIsecure Professional Line Retransfer Printers XID 590ie and XID 9330 and LCP 9000 Laser Color Personalization System. It can be also upgraded later on to any of these installed printers, since there is no technical modification inside the printer necessary.
Lastly, Digital Identification Solutions announced the EDIsecure Holographic Personalization Technology, designed to add an additional level of security to ID cards and protects them from forgery and tampering.
This technology incorporates unique optical effects that are difficult to counterfeit into the card. The hologram can contain the cardholder’s photo as well as text, logos, emblems, symbols, coat of arms, or a combination of these.
The EDIsecure HPT is another Digital Identification Solutions’ response to the demand for increased security and provides free choice in designing the diffractive optical images. The new hardware for the EDIsecure Holographic Personalization Technology will be rolled out during the coming months as part of a multi-product launch program that will enhance the current EDIsecure Professional Line Retransfer Printer portfolio.
