Australian technology and poker enthusiast Andrew Milner has brought a little bit of the World Poker Tour into his rec room, with the help of RFID.
Milner spent three months and around $7000 (Australian) creating his own RFID-enabled poker table. The table is equipped with wireless RFID readers, and games are played with a deck of cards individually labeled with flexible RFID tags.
The result, when a few HD television monitors are shuffled into the mix along with Milner’s own encoding, is a professional quality video stream of his home poker games, to be aired on televisions in his home or via the internet.
Milner, the chairman of technology services company L7 Solutions, holds a patent for a liquor-tracking RFID application, and is now working on a second version of the table.
