Egypt recently created a smart card association entitled The Egyptian Association for Smart Cards Industry & Applications (EASCIA). They have just recently formed a ten-member executive board. The association was created in response to a call from Egypt’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology and has a two-fold goal of spreading awareness of the importance of the smart cards applications in Egypt and the Arab region and driving for a regional standard for smart card implementation. The association believes that ultimately the use of smart cards will contribute to the economy of the region and the raising of living standards. Best of luck to the EASCIA in all of your future endeavors.
