EMVCo, the EMV standards organization owned by American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa, has added eight new members to its Associates Programme this year.
The eight members include Cubic Transportation Systems Limited, Equinox Payments, FIME, Planet Media and Nationz Technologies, who have joined as Technical Associates. ANZ and Vantiv have joined the program as Business Associates, and Carrefour Banque has joined as both a Business and Technical Associate. Additionally, EFTPOS Payments Australia Limited has added the Technical Associate status to its existing Business Associate status.
The EMVCo Associates Programme enables stakeholders to have an active role in developing the strategic technical direction of the EMV standard and pushing the advancement of global payments as a whole.
Technical Associates in the program join EMVCo’s eight working groups that deal with technical and implementation issues for EMV specs. This membership plan is geared toward all payment industry stakeholders and costs $25,000 a year.
Business Associates focus on the business strategy aspect of EMV technology. This membership level is open to payment card issuers, acquirers, merchants, processors, card and terminal vendors, networks and network associations. The annual membership costs $12,500.
Additionally, EMVCo has a subscriber service with developmental alerts and EMVCo discussion opportunities. All industry stakeholders may subscribe for $750 a year.
