France’s Ergosum Consortium, a group of retailers, store card providers and three mobile operators, has published its specifications for the use of NFC at the point-of-sale (POS) ahead of a large scale consumer trial.
On its Web site, Ergosum presents detailed specifications and use cases for the implementation of NFC payments, coupon redemption and loyalty points management at the POS. Besides specifications, the consortium has also published two Flash animations that describe the way NFC services will be provided in a retail environment.
Last year, the consortium made public its plans to launch a NFC trial in the retail environment. The members of Ergosum include Auchan, Banque Accord, Bouygues Telecom, Carrefour, Castorama, Cofidis, E Leclerc, Finaref, Fnac, Groupe Casino, Groupement des Mousquetaires, Jules, Kinepolis CinAA(C)mas, LaSer-Cofinoga, Leroy Merlin, Printemps, Orange, SFR and Systeme-U.
