The first NFC apps for Android phones are beginning to appear following Google’s launch of the NFC-friendly Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and the new NFC-enabled Nexus S handset, according to nexus404.com.
First, there’s EnableTable, a customer loyalty app that lets restaurants offer discounts to customers. The U.S. developed app uses NFC to keep track of returning customers in a restaurant and delivers “Welcome Back Coupons” directly to their handsets when they pay the bill.
The second app, Taglet, is a contactless information sharing app from Japan that allows users to add information onto an NFC tag, such as a URL, short message, contact information and so on.
According to nexus404.com, Taglet is compatible with FeliCa and Mifare standards.
