Franwell Inc., a provider in RFID track and trace technologies, announced its software platform Vigilant to help law enforcement agencies transform older manual and bar-code based tracking systems to a new state-of-the-art RFID based application.
Vigilant is designed to help law enforcement manage the full lifecycle of controlling and maintaining their storage facilities. The complete RFID system is an item-level track and trace application for managing property and evidence providing inventory, chain of custody and verification of evidence in the property room.
Franwell’s Vigilant system can automatically generate detailed reporting for every single piece of evidence in the system. Chain of custody reports allow law enforcement agencies to quickly review the possession history for any item or case; where it has been, who has had it, when they had it, where they took it and why.
In addition, RFID enables a mobile scanner to quickly identify and locate items that may have been lost or misplaced in the property room. The Vigilant system can reduce inventory taking by 90 percent, find unable to locate (UTL) items by 90 percent and reduce disposition time by greater than 15 percent; thereby making it easier to comply with the state and federal mandates for evidence audits.
