Futronic Technology Company Limited, a developer of biometric software and hardware, has announced that their Windows Biometric Framework Driver designed for Windows 7 to utilize their USB fingerprint scanner has passed tests for both the 32 bit and 64 bit version of the operating system. The driver has been digitally signed by Microsoft and will be available for installation through Microsoft’s Windows Update soon.
Past versions of Windows required suppliers of products to include their own drivers, software development kits and applications to utilize their products leading to inconsistencies in utilizing security and other programs.
To eliminate this issue, however, Windows 7 has developed the Windows Biometric Framework which will offer users support for a number of different products from different suppliers all utilizing the same platform. In addition to being available for download through Windows Update, Futronic has also put their driver up for free download on their Web site.
