GE Healthcare has announced its biometric solution for ePrescriptions has been approved by the Ohio Pharmacy Board, which oversees the only state requiring two-factor authentication for ePrescriptions.
Moreover, GE expects that its solution, created in response to the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) regulation for transitions to electronic prescriptions be allowed only after a closed system of controls are in place. GE believes that its solution will not only allow physicians to create the closed system around their ePrescription system, but also help customers better prepare to meet the new security regulations laid out by the DEA and prepare for potential stricter standards down the line.
