Gemalto has announced the official launch of its NFC management services in Singapore.
Powered by Gemalto’s Allynis Trusted Services Manager (TSM) solution and supported by Singapore’s Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), the project brings together a consortium of local mobile operators, banks and service providers to deliver NFC to Singapore consumers.
According to Gemalto, the upcoming commercial roll out of NFC services will enable Singapore residents to tap and pay using their NFC-enabled mobile devices at over 20,000 retail points, such as convenience stores, fast food restaurants, retailers and taxis. Additional services are expected to be added over the coming months when consortium partners launch their own NFC solutions.
Gemalto’s TSM infrastructure manages the over-the-air provisioning of confidential payment credentials to users’ NFC devices, leveraging cellular data, SMS or Wi-Fi channels in real time. The service is provided through Gemalto’s TSM data center in Singapore, which recently received MasterCard and VISA certification. Gemalto also offers a SIM-based mobile wallet application for compatible NFC handsets.
