Gemalto’s UpTeq NFC SIM has gained certification from American Express, MasterCard and Visa.
The UpTeq SIMs — which have previously been EMVCo certified — are available in all form factors including 2G, 3G and 4G handsets. The UpTeq NFC solution supports contactless payments and other secure services using AMEX ExpressPay, MasterCard PayPass and Visa payWave.
Supporting a wide range of functionalities, UpTeq NFC boasts an optimized delta certification for product approval, and can be custom designed to fit the needs of each specific NFC deployment. The solution’s first deployment will take place in the newly NFC-enabled Singapore with mobile operators M1, SingTel and StarHub leading the charge.
UpTeq’s Singapore deployment will support CEPAS1— the local payment standard used for small value purchases. The SIMs will also be customized for the specific KDDI requirements in Japan, Rogers in Canada and Orange in France, with plans to add support for others in the future.
Acting as a tamper-proof credential for confidential customer personal and payment data, UpTeq’s alignment with credit giants AMEX, MasterCard and Visa should bolster customer confidence in the security of the solution.
Also key to UpTeq NFC is easy onboarding of new NFC services, making it an ideal solution for mobile identification, coupon redemption, loyalty programs and transit cards.
