Goode Intelligence founder Alan Goode recently blogged about Smart Mobile Identity and the next generation of mobile-based authentication and identity verification products.
Goode writes that mobile authentication is transforming from porting current authentication methods into a mobile environment to mobile services designing authentication applications specifically for mobile devices. These methods are leveraging different mobile features to provide such authentication, including microphones for voice biometrics, GPS sensors for geolocation validation, cameras for facial and eye biometrics and digital certificate storage in the SIM or Secure Element.
The next generation of authentication for smart mobile devices could include NFC and fingerprint or voice recognition through embedded sensors or add-on sleeves. Should these take off, the market for add on devices to capture biometrics in the field could become obsolete.
This market is already changing, what with companies like Apple acquiring technology companies in the search for bringing new methods of authentication directly to mobile devices.
In response, Goode Intelligence has written two white papers on the topic and expects to publish more reports about this subject in the near future.
