GuestLogix, a provider of retail and payment technology solutions to airlines, has upgraded its XPDA onboard handheld point of sale device to accept contactless, NFC and EMV payments.
Customers on any flight using GuestLogix readers are now able to tap and pay for in-flight snacks and services using their NFC-enabled mobile phones, contactless credit or debit cards, or EMV chip & PIN cards.
The XPDA-SP boasts twice the processing power and eight times the memory capacity of its predecessor, the XPDA-S – the most widely used onboard payment terminal in the airline industry, according to GuestLogix.
The SP model retains the physical design of the XPDA-S as well as all of the terminal’s key features, including bar code scanner, integrated printer and magnetic stripe reader.
The PCI-compliant XPDA-SP also provides enhanced communication options such as Bluetooth, WiFi (b/g/n) and 3G GSM, and supports touch-screen features with a higher resolution LCD.
