Hawk Systems, a developer of fingerprint authentication technology, has announced a new offering that would require a fingerprint to start a car called SECUREPASSTM System Vehicle Identification System.
The hope of Hawk Systems is that this new biometric solution will help with preventing car thefts by only enabling authorized users to turn over the engine.
A deal has already been struck with auto shop 45th Street Auto Sales, West Palm Beach, Fla., to both provide the systems as well as install them into purchasers’ cars. The system can store up to 16 users’ biometric profiles.
