HID goID Gateway eases government delivery of mobile IDs

HID Global has extended its HID goID Gateway to enable governments to offer mobile identities to citizens via a cloud service or as a new, in-country offering. It allows provisioning of fully encrypted mobile IDs from a central issuance system to citizens’ smartphones.

The HID goID Gateway is part of the end-to-end ePassport solution used in Tanzania. The Gateway can a provision mobile ePassports to a Tanzanian citizens’ smartphones if their physical passport is lost or stolen during foreign travel. The in-country HID goID gateway creates a future where any public entity could deliver mobile ID services to Tanzanian citizens in the future.
Security and the HID goID Gateway
The goID platform uses end-to-end encryption to ensure confidentiality of personal information throughout the process of delivering and utilizing smartphone-based mobile IDs. This includes secure over-the-air provisioning, updating and revoking capabilities. The HID goID Gateway can be deployed as a managed service operated by HID or, as in Tanzania, as an in-country offering operated locally.
The goID mobile credential delivers remote enrollment and provisioning; off-line, remote and role-based verification, Bluetooth engagement and customizable functionality.
