Hitachi releases new biometric hardware

Hitachi, a technology development company, has unveiled a new version of their finger-vein readers already embedded in ATMs, according to a Wireless Watch Japan article. The new hardware has been reduced to three millimeters in thickness and is designed for use in consumer mobile devices such as PDAs and mobile phones. The new version is reportedly maintaining the same levels of accuracy as its larger counterpart in use at ATMs in Japan.
