Stanford University’s card access system has made significant strides over the past year, incorporating all first-year dorms and a number of recently renovated upperclass residences.
Besides the increased security features of an electronic door access system that requires the swipe of a student ID card to gain entry, the Palo Alto, Calif.-based university also wanted to be more efficient and secure in the management of the dorm’s exterior doors. Additional features of the building access system include audible door alarms, alerts sent via text message when doors are not closed properly, the ability to post alert messages to students and the ability for remote management.
