Identive Group Inc. has released GameChangeR, a kit that creates and integrates RFID technology into electronic games.
RFID technology is used in gaming and virtual environments to create a deeper user experience. It can be incorporated into a device such as a game piece that can deliver information about itself to a software application or game. In return, the software can then communicate how the piece is used in a game, or it can change the piece by storing new information on it.
GameChangeR is a development kit that allows developers to easily incorporate RFID into electronic games. The kit comes with a 13.56Mhz, ISO 14443A RFID reader, three GameChangR tags and a USB–USART converter.
Identive is currently taking orders for the product and expects to start shipping it in February.
