SANTA BARBARA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–March 14, 2002–InfoGenesis, a leading provider of hospitality information technology, today announced installation of a managed point-of-sale (POS) solution at four New Jersey universities: New Jersey Institute of Technology, Bloomfield College, Fairleigh Dickinson University at Madison, and Fairleigh Dickinson University at Teaneck. InfoGenesis was contracted by Gourmet Dining, the dining services provider for the four campuses.
With managed solutions InfoGenesis hosts its award-winning POS software in its San Jose, CA data center and maintains Internet connectivity to each of the universities, processing all transactions with instantaneous response.
“To move toward a managed solution was an easy decision,” said Ben Aiello, President of Gourmet Dining Services. “We explored all of our options and truly believe that this is the best choice. Our focus on providing excellent service requires a system that is user friendly, gives us real-time reporting, and has the flexibility to deliver a new standard in guest service programs.”
“We were impressed with the fit of the InfoGenesis application in the university environment,” said Stacey Sclafani, General Manager of Gourmet Dining Services. “We maintain a single enterprise database for all four campuses, while supporting the unique meal plan characteristics of each operation. Instead of our purchasing and maintaining a separate POS system for each campus, InfoGenesis installs all the necessary hardware, and their expert team manages the system for us for one monthly fee.”
The InfoGenesis solution also tracks student meal plans automatically. Students’ ID cards are read by a badge reader that captures their meal plan information and makes the appropriate debit to each account.
InfoGenesis installed thirteen IBM SurePOS 500 color touchscreen terminals for all order entry and tendering transactions at the four schools.
“Lines move more quickly than ever before,” commented Sclafani. “This allows us to handle more transactions and improve the experience for the students. The off-line capability of Revelation ensures that the system will never go down, allowing us to provide better customer service, giving us greater accuracy and maximizing our profit potential.”
The ability to change menus easily also helps food service operations. Each campus uses revolving weekly menus. With the Windows graphical user interface, new menus can be added with just a few clicks of a mouse. Menus can be scheduled to load automatically at the POS terminals on a specified date.
