Ingenico and Bank Asya are partnering to deploy contactless payment terminals in taxi cabs at the Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul, Turkey.
For the upcoming pilot, Bank Aysa will supply 114 taxi cabs with Ingenico’s EFT930 GPRS Mobile Terminals, allowing customers to pay for fares with contactless credit or debit cards, as well as traditional mag stripe cards.
Mustafa Ölmez, Payment Systems manager of Bank Asya, commented: “[Contactless payment] solutions for public transportation, bridge and highway tolls have been extremely well received. We now aim to ease the lives of the cab passengers and drivers by deploying this offer for the taxis.”
Ingenico and Bank Asya expect to expand the project to more taxis, pending favorable results from the pilot.
