Ingenico achieved second place in the “Projects” category of the “Contactless Payment” terminal competition run by the German Savings Banks Association (DSGV) in Berlin.
With more than 800 units installed, the iPP350 terminal that received the award from the DSGV has been approved for all of the card-based payment procedures that are relevant in Germany. The device features a card reader for chip, magnetic stripe and contactless cards. It also contains an NFC reader that is located near its color display and able to process all known contactless payment procedures.
The “Projects” category was open to all applicants that were able to prove that they had installed at least 50 terminals with an active “girogo” function in the market by June 30, 2012. The aim of these requirements was to emphasize the advantages of contactless payment (e.g. speed and convenience) and to raise awareness of the payment system known as “girogo” throughout Germany. A total of 877 terminals with an active “girogo” function were installed during the competition period.
The company has also been granted “girogo” approval for its iCT250 countertop terminal and iWL250 wireless terminal, enabling to cover all product segments.
